Oh Kickstarter. How I love thee Kickstarter…
Many of you are probably familiar with the crowdfunding platform. For those new to Kickstarter, the company provides a fundraising platform to help brands get their amazing new products off and running.
I’ve purchased several items from Kickstarter and love supporting young and flourishing brands. Most recently, I added these Mini Rex Earrings from Nisolo to my small collection of studs. Sufficiently simple for everyday wear and perfectly professional for the office, they are also substantial enough to dress up a bit and get noticed. I actually received a couple of compliments on them the first day I wore them to the office.
Nisolo started its foray into socially conscious fashion with shoes handmade in Peru. With a minimalist theme and a focus on high quality products, their shoes are perfect for professional settings. In fact, they just released the Mollie Heel that I’m pretty sure will be the next shoe in my collection. I’ve been thinking about a heel in this style for a couple of years, and this one really strikes a chord with me.
While I could share more about the new Nisolo Jewelry Collection, this gorgeous video does their mission much more justice. Check it out… I’ll wait…
How cool is the story about William, the Peruvian shoemaker, and the success his family has experienced as a result of Nisolo’s efforts and our efforts as consumers to be more conscious about how impactful our purchasing power can be?
The Nisolo Jewelry Collection has officially launched and you can now find it on their website. The video below shows a few of the pieces. All the jewelry is simple and streamlined, which I think makes it great for the office.
When I received my Mini Rex Earrings from the Kickstarter campaign, I received with them a handwritten note from the Nisolo team thanking me for my purchase. Over 1,100 people backed the campaign, and I presume Nisolo operates with a relatively small team behind-the-scenes. That’s a heck of a lot of notes! And it’s a small but meaningful way to show their appreciation for my contribution to the circle of conscious commerce we are all building together.
Below is the outfit I wore the first day I donned the Mini Rex Earrings at the office. I shared more about the outfit as part of a larger post about the evolution of an outfit. If you haven’t checked out Nisolo, take a few minutes to take a peek at their site.
The videos gave you some insight into their culture and story, but I suspect you’ll find at least a few things that make great socially responsible investments to any work wear wardrobe.
With the referral links I’ve included in this post, you receive $25 off your first Nisolo purchase. If you check them out, let me know what you think!
Heads Up: I purchased these earrings free and clear with my own money. The post includes referral links, which mean I earn a small commission on any purchase you choose to make. However, that commission has no impact on the price you pay. Thanks in advance for supporting the brands that support the blog and “keep the lights on” around here. 🙂
