The Perfect Playlist to Motivate Your Yoga Flow

You’re busy. You’ve got family, a career, the daily grind of day-to-day living and everything else on your plate to tend to. Exercise inevitably gets pushed to the back burner.

Then January 1 rolled around. I’m probably not going out on much of a limb to propose that you might have (or had…) some iteration of “get fit” on your New Year’s resolution docket. Don’t feel alone. It’s on mine too.

On my continuous journey to find a groove between work and family in search of a few moments for myself, I find the free minutes aren’t always planned nor do they come in large chunks to set aside for extensive trips to the gym.

Instead, sometimes it’s easiest to find time for exercise when our little ones are napping or while they’re playing on the floor next to us. Or maybe we sneak in a short stretching or yoga session in the morning before the kids wake up?

No matter where you find pockets of time, there’s a good chance they crop up unexpectedly and you might have to pounce on a moment’s notice. Enter… the at home work out.

While I can’t create the time on your calendar or provide you the kick in the pants to actually suit up for some exercise, I can offer a few suggestions to make the effort easier and better.

For starters, I like to be ready to exercise at the drop of a hat. I always have clean workout clothes (or I may even be hanging out in my yoga gear).

I’ve got a playlist in my back pocket so I’m not wasting time searching for the right music to get pumped up.

I’ve got a handful of hair elastics in a jar on my bathroom counter (those things seem to get lost like it’s their job…).

Lastly, I’ve been using the Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant (Original and Chamomile), a new beauty trend rocking store shelves. I totally love that it goes on instantly dry with no visible residue. I get a little self-conscious about that residue, so I’m pumped about an option that doesn’t cause that problem.

I really like the smell, though the Chamomile one has a touch of a “chemical” scent to it. By that, I don’t mean that it smells like cleaning products. It smells a bit like walking down the laundry detergent aisle in the grocery story or past a laundromat in an apartment building. Most of us, myself included, love the strong fresh scent of clean laundry. But if you’re particularly sensitive to scented products, the Original scent is a bit lighter and probably the better option for you.

Given that we don’t necessarily know when our 15 minutes of free time will pop up, I like knowing that the Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant lasts for up to 48 hours. The first day I wore it, I was impressed I could still smell the fresh scent by the end of the day. In conjunction with the Dove 1/4 moisturizers, I was sold.

Now that you’re dressed and ready for a good sweat, it’s time to enjoy a quick and effective yoga session. If you aren’t an avid yogi, you might be curious to get involved. There’s no better place to try out a few yoga poses and flows (i.e. a routine or sequence) than in the comfort of your own home.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not a huge fan of yoga “harmonized” by the everyday sounds of my own home, like my super loud washing machine or my dishwasher whose decibel level drowns out our voices so we can only run it at night (seriously).

Instead, I like some invigorating tunes that are upbeat yet relaxing. I also don’t like my yoga playlist to have a lot of words. I find myself distracted by the lyrics and less able to focus on the poses and introspection.

To help you opportunistically pounce on a few minutes to get fit, I’ve partnered with Dove to bring you 13 songs perfect for an invigorating yoga sequence. The music will get your heart pumping just a bit without leaving you too drained to feel refreshed.

You’ll have that post-yoga glow.
