Something is lost in the translation of style through the workings on the interwebs. A perfectly comfortable simple outfit that feels so right for just another day transforms into blah and boring by the time it reaches your computer screen. An outfit that, in real life, looks just right for a casual weekend like any other often feels too simple to be sharing on the blog. Many times, while getting dressed, I find myself adding a belt or a scarf or an extra layer to an outfit to make it stand out on the blog when the real-life version of the outfit looks like I tried just a little bit too hard.
On that note, I bring to you today an extremely simple outfit. When I left the house in this outfit, I felt so great. The soft sweater and thrifted jeans with one of my favorite pairs of flats brought me back to the basics of style that I love. I appreciate trying out new trends (they aren’t all for me, for sure). I definitely love experimenting with things in my closet and interesting pieces I find at thrift stores.
The style posts and the Monday Sophisticated Style Link Up will continue. I really enjoy being held accountable to exercise creativity in my closet, even if some days it ends up only being jeans and sweater. Putting together a complete outfit gives me an additional ounce of confidence as I travel through my day. Voraciously studying style to continuously enhance this blog and my outfits has taught me a lot. Without a doubt, I have so much more to learn and have loved every step of it.
As I struggle to craft the “perfect” outfit everyday that’s “blog-worthy,” I also yearn to explore more on this blog outside of style. As you’ve seen in recent months, I started to expand the content about which I share including more food, family, and personal posts. If you haven’t already, please stop by to read my post about the changes you’ll be seeing here and why.
One of the primary reasons for the changes simply stems from the fact that I have passions and interests outside style. In fact, I’d really consider myself more of a dabbler than one who dives head first into just one thing. Consequently, myriad topics resonate with my writing and photography interests.
As I expand this space to still focus on style but also include so many other topics that I believe resonate with working women, I hope you continue to follow along and enjoy the more varied content. In all honestly, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you in the comments, on social media, or via email about what you’d like to see here.
I can’t promise I’ll do it all. My first and foremost goal continues to be providing a genuine voice speaking to you about what matters to me and (hopefully) what matters to you. Even if I can’t cover all the topics you suggest, I do want to hear every single suggestion!
Don’t forget to link up what you’re wearing no matter how simple or perfectly “blog-worthy” it seems to be. It’s all real here.
