In the true spirit of remixing, I adapted this look from another outfit I recently wore using a very similar color combination and many of the same pieces. Swapping out the navy and white stripes for this red shirt and then changing up the belt gave me a whole new outfit from a tried and true style recipe.
Speaking of tried and true recipes and easy outfit formulas, it’s a darn good thing I have a few of them in my arsenal and I’ll need to be relying on them more often. With a constantly changing body due to getting pregnant and then getting back to my normal self post-partum, I have been avoiding shopping not wanting to buy anything that won’t fit the “long-term me” – whatever that ends up being.
Also, we’re about to have two kiddos in an urban daycare. While we love the daycare and all they teach our children, it’s practically another mortgage payment to send them there. So with that cash flow heading out the door steadily, there’s not much left for new clothes. Care for our children is far more important than my closet (obviously). And I kind of like the remixing, refashioning, and thrifting challenges brought about by being more reflective and frugal with my shopping habits. So I don’t mind at all.
On that note, I’m thinking about doing a few more posts over the next few months about DIY, refashioning, more remixing, etc… that are work appropriate. Do you have any specific topics you’d like me to cover? Or maybe you’re a blogger and would like to do a joint post on something. Let me know in the comments so I can be sure these topics get covered. It’s likely any question you have is probably one shared by others.
