Breaking News ~ Sartorial Envy Conquered: Cropped Pants Success
I suspect most, if not all, of us have fallen victim to sartorial envy. It certainly could present its devilish self in myriad forms, but most recently, I’ve been fighting urges to try trends that just may not suit me. Some things look so great on others. But I can’t seem to find the right version or iteration for me. I do recognize that not everything works for everyone. In fact, I’d be hard pressed to believe there’s a body type for which every trend proves flattering. Despite knowing this though, many of us succumb to the devilish sartorial envy, at least on occasion, and stuff ourselves into the proverbial “too tight pants.”
At times, I have fended off the fire-breathing fad dragon. Remember my denim jacket conundrum? I still don’t own one and the urge has since diminished. And rompers? Well, I shouldn’t give myself too much credit there. They nearly always look terrible on anyone over the age of 7. And going to the bathroom appears to be a bit of an ordeal. But what do I know? My closet remains romper-free.
On other occasions, I gave in to the trend temptation via an inexpensive vehicle and kind of liked it. Maxi remix much?
But most recently, I have been eyeing professional cropped pants. And despite trying on dozens of pairs in various stores, I never found the right fit. I steered clear of the tempting sartorial envy for quite some time. But recently, my Mario ran out of lives fighting the envy dragon just before the castle. And Nintendo required a visit to Nordstrom to work with one of their stylists to bring a perfectly fitting cropped pant investment into my closet. Thus begot my monogamous cropped pant relationship with these Theory beauties that I previously debuted with my Marine Layer blazer not long ago.
So I found a perfect pair of pants and made a significant investment in my wardrobe. In my battle with the sartorial “devil dragon”, did I win or lose? I succumbed to the temptation, but responsibly invested in a classic, high quality piece as opposed to jumping at the first option that landed in front of me and might not have been perfect? I guess it’s up for debate. For now, I’m just gonna love up my new pants!
