Sometimes in life it’s the small things that make you smile. And sometimes, when you get dressed in the morning, the same is true.
I’ve worn this dress before, but I mixed up the accessories a bit. And my accessory success-story ended up making my little day.
I couldn’t wear my navy tights, my color of choice with this outfit, because I snagged them on my desk the previous day and wore a nice big run up the front of my knee all afternoon the rest of that day. But brown tights in hand, I finished off this dress outfit with my perfect fall boots and a knot in my belt that FINALLY worked!
Living in a climate that fluctuates throughout the year from -40 to 90 degrees and walking to work each day, my attire depends heavily (or lightly, get it?) on the weather. I don’t wear these boots when it’s hot, when it’s wet, if it snows, when it’s too cold, or generally when the weather isn’t great. I have a few other pairs of boots I can squish into my work bag (which typically is just a boring black backpack with my company’s name embroidered on the back – epitome of fashionable and glamorous). But these boots don’t succumb to such pressure; they just won’t put up with being crushed. So these, my favorite boots, get relegated to the back of my closet most of the year and sneak out only on the most perfectly glorious days. (Needless-to-say, wearing these boots makes me happy not only because I love them but also because it generally indicates nice weather). Win-win.
And also, the belt! How many times have you seen that “tie your belt 8 billion ways” infographic show up in your Pinterest feed. And then you saw 17,000 bloggers execute said knot. And then when you tried it, it worked for a few minutes. Until you took a breath. And then the whole thing went to shambles. Yep – I’ve been there. But… the day I wore this outfit, I tied this lovely knot one time. One Time! And it lasted the whole.darn.day. Check that off my bucket list…
So neither of my accessory success-stories leave anyone shocked or amazed. But the little things in my life the day I wore this dress added a nice touch to a perfectly balmy fall Tuesday… Ahhhh.
P.S. The loose fitted shape of this dress made for a great, versatile addition to my maternity wardrobe. What better piece than one that can stylishly transition from “baby bump” to “baby bump no more”?
