Over the years, I’ve dabbled in the DIY style space. I convinced my mom to buy me a beginner sewing machine for my birthday and teach me how to use it (though it didn’t take much convincing).
I manage to stumble my way through a very basic refashion here and there, but I’m far from competent to create much from scratch.
These days, my sewing machine collects dust under my desk. I wish I had more time to spend with it. But in reality, I choose other ways to spend limited free time, so the machine gets pushed aside. I’ll return to it someday when the boys are older and when I have more dedicated creative space.
For now, I’ve partnered up with a host of sewists and stylists in the Wear to Where series. Together, we’re sharing lots of style ideas that you can create yourself or pull together from store shelves for all sorts of occasions. There’s also a giveaway and a link up, so be sure to keep on scrolling!
Of course, I picked the “Office Style” occasion because… ya know… that’s my jam.
In an ode to the sewists, I actually made this scarf myself. By “made,” I mean I bought a piece of fabric at JoAnn’s that I knew wouldn’t fray and wrapped it around my neck. Does DIY get much easier than that?!
Before heading on to the rest of your day, be sure to stop by the other ladies showcasing their “self-made” and “store-bought” style ideas for work.
