Some days I just feel like shopping for the sake of shopping. On these days, I find it’s best to curb the craving with a trip to a thirft store or flea market because the adventure requires patience to sift through the racks and racks of clothing and accessories, most of which are of no interest to me. After a couple of hours, I’m exhausted of shopping and didn’t spend enough money to warrant an inquisition from The Man. (He’s fair for sure when it comes to my spending; and I consider it a good check and balance because if I can’t justify why I purchased it, chances are I shouldn’t be buying it.)
In the rare instance when I find a diamond in the rough, it’s rewarding and, best of all, cheap! And even if I do find a handful of winners, I still haven’t broken the bank. My shirt and my necklace were both thrifted and together, cost me about $10. Pretty sweet.
My thirft store of choice is most often Savers, which supports various non-profit organizations. I always bring with me items to donate, which gets me a coupon for 20 – 30% off my purchase, and the proceeds benefit a good cause. When it’s just an itch to browse the racks, it doesn’t get much better than that!
