It’s getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes… Ok – not really. That’s the Nelly song and certainly not office appropriate. But it is starting to warm up for summer, even here in Chicago where the winter has been hanging on with every last muscle it can muster up. So it’s time to start thinking about what to wear to beat the heat. Much like I used an outfit template during maternity to keep things simple yet offer a variety of remixing options within one style formula, I have a favorite style staple for summer too: blazer, dress, and heels. It’s sharp, cool for my commute with my blazer in hand, and warm enough for the air conditioned office as I toss my blazer over my shoulders for a good ol’ day’s work.
If you really want to remix things up (and dress down the look a bit), you can always exchange the blazer for a cardigan. You use the same formula to create a similar look with a bit more of a casual vibe. I wrote a bit about this in the Layers and Seasonless Items section of my Corporate Chic on the Cheap guide.
Cheers to (finally) warmer weather!!
