For those of you who have been pregnant before, you likely understand the frustration of getting dressed each day with a constantly changing body that just doesn’t seem to comfortably fit into much of what’s stashed in the closet. For me, it has become particularly frustrating when getting dressed for work – in part because I don’t want to spend a fortune on a new maternity wardrobe just for a few months at the office. I’ve justified to myself spending my days at home in yoga pants and Target tank tops, but I still like to feel a bit pulled together at the office, especially when meeting with clients.
Today felt like one of those days when I settled; settled on an outfit that I far from loved. It worked, and I worked in it (i.e. it proved more than acceptable for a day in a cubicle crawling through Excel). But I don’t think I’ll be coming back to it. And I am fine with a hitch along the way in the learning process of what works and what doesn’t.
The blouse, thrifted, is not actually a maternity item. So maybe I can find a better way to wear the darn thing down the road when I’m back to my normal ol’ body. For now, though, it’s just another day of dressing my belly and getting one day closer to being back to normal!
Do you ever have those days, pregnant or not, when the outfit doesn’t feel just right but you walk out the door in it anyway because it’s “good enough for today”?
