In my never-ending quest to find new ways to remix what already resides in my closet, I discover valuable and endless inspiration from Pinterest. I find remixing rewarding for the sake of satisfying my “creative style genius” (the genius part continues to elude me, but I chase it anyway) and also for saving me a few bucks without compromising the versatility of my closet. Regardless of the type of event for which you’re dressing or the budget with which you’re working, Pinterest brings together a wealth of ideas from countless styles and creative minds. Today, I share with you one way I use Pinterest to find new ways to remix my closet and extend my professional wardrobe (and I’ll be sharing several more over the next few weeks).
See not only what they are wearing but also what they are pinning as inspiration for their next post.
So this might seem kind of obvious to some, but I could not overlook it because it’s such a useful method of utilizing Pinterest. For example, I love Mary’s super sophisticated style on her blog, The Classy Cubicle, and have been inspired by her style in the past. I actually pinned today’s outfit many months ago and recently added a pink and navy striped dress to my closet. I chose a Target version of the dress and a thrifted JCrew blazer, as these were much more consistent with my budget.
For this week’s feature, I loved the look that Alex shared on Undergraduate Style. The simple neutral look is clean and sophisticated. I like when a look is pulled together without being stuffy or a lot of work! And can you believe she’s only 19?! Her style is much more mature than mine at 19 (I lived in baggy sweatpants and tank tops with my hair tied up in a messy bun on my head…).
