Now it’s time for the Grand Finale of being a responsible consumer of fashion and style – Remix, Remix, Remix and Remix again.
Last but certainly not least, the importance of learning how to remix my own clothes can’t be understated. When satisfied with the options in my own closet, I don’t have to buy secondhand, invest with intention, or shop fast fashion. I’m not saying I never shop. I certainly do. It’s fun to add something new in the rotation. But the feeling of needing to “fill gaps” will certainly wane when we learn to love and remix what we already own.
If you’re a master remixer already, props to you. Hopefully that means you’ll be linking up (at least) one awesome One Piece Many Ways (#1PieceXWays) remix. Even if you’re not a blogger, you can create a collage on Instagram and link it up and include the hashtag #1PieceXWays so I can find it. I’m hoping to see a boatload of inspiration. Because this is a work style blog primarily, I’m hoping that at least one outfit in each of the remixes reflects what you wear to your job. But certainly include casual looks as well because it’s always awesome to remix weekend and work wear pieces.
You can also stop over to see the 31 Days 31 Ways Challenge that Caitlin of Greater Than Rubies hosted this month. If you’re not familiar with her blog, you really need to spend some time visiting. For starters, she and I collaborated with two other bloggers for a seasonal remix series (the second installment of which we’ll share next week). She has such great inspiration from her own closet. But more importantly, she helps you find inspiration and learn new styling lessons in your own closet under your own style guidelines that work for your lifestyle. (She didn’t shop for an entire year, so she can officially call herself a Remixing Queen. And she’s currently spending a year buying only 12 news items – one per month – which certainly requires patience and intention to ensure those purchases are perfect and will fit with the rest of your wardrobe well.)
My musings this week don’t sound off newsflash alerts. But really, if we all considered these things even a little bit and made efforts that we considered reasonable for the space and time available in each of our lives, we might just be surprised the satisfaction and impact it could create. And we’d save ourselves a decent chunk of cash as well, I presume.
Here are a few more photos of the new outfit today. You can check out details of the rest of outfits with the links above to original posts.
Now for the link up. I’ll leave the link up open for one month. Please only link up “One Piece Many Ways” posts. I know we all have great posts about all sorts of things, but this is intended to be a focused link up. And I don’t really want to play Link Up police (i.e. delete your post) so please don’t make me do that. When the link up closes, I’ll be selecting a few of my favorite posts and featuring them on the blog. Without further ado, let’s see what you’ve got! And of course, feel free to link up more than one remix if you’re feeling so inclined!
