Stealing a color from the pattern of the shirt to wear on the bottom makes for a pretty simple pairing. Done and done.
So I thought if I matched the color schemes, I could experiment with pattern mixing. Yep… nope! This doesn’t work. But hopefully you can learn from my experience. One method for nailing down basic pattern mixing entails starting with similar color palettes. I managed to master that step with this pairing. But the two patterns are both fairly bold. I’ve found pattern mixing works better with two patterns of contrasting sizes (i.e. a larger pattern and a smaller pattern). Here, I’ve just juxtaposed a couple of outspoken patterns that continue to attempt to talk over each other. Better luck next time!
