I’ve shared before how much I love dresses and skirts with pockets (my pink dress, my self-made skirt, and the list could go on). I also LOVE half sleeves (and The Man seems to think they’re one of the most flattering sleeve types for me as well, so that encouragement doesn’t hurt). For over a year, I have been eyeing the beautiful Corilynn skirts and contemplated buying one. They are a bit more expensive than skirts I typically purchase, but I also love supporting small independent designers and am willing to pay a premium in doing so, especially when it comes with great quality.
So when I stumbled upon Corilynn’s Kickstarter campaign through which I could get my hands on this awesome Capri dress (I’m getting in line for the orchid one), I fell in love and decided to make the investment. I mentioned in my Corporate Chic on the Cheap series the benefit of patience. Waiting for the right time to make the perfect purchase from the line and acquiring this dress through the Kickstarter campaign, I definitely think it’s a great opportunity to support an independent designer and a dream while getting something gorgeous for myself in return!
I think this dress is perfectly fun and bright for summer yet still conservative and sophisticated for the office. I’m really looking forward to receiving it later this summer (after the campaign ends and the sewing craze of their new line begins). It should be perfect timing to get back into my normal clothes after many months of maternity gear (and head to the office after maternity leave).
