Sometimes my hair is a bit of mess (proof above). Sometimes my shopping is serendipitous (proof above). After drooling over classy camel coats and loving all the oversize winter coats sported by the most fashionista of the fashionistas, I just about died when I found this camel hair coat (from Bloomingdale’s according to the tag) for $9.99 at Goodwill. In my size. Please. And thank you. I’ll take it.
The previous owner of this jacket apparently is my size and was cleaning out her closet. She left her initials on the tag, and I found matching initials in another jacket near this one in the rack. I didn’t take home the other coat, although I liked it. Sometimes ya just have enough coats for now. I think, though, that I need to find this person and be her first stop before she hits Goodwill. I’m happy to take her high-end trash and turn it into my affordable and stylish treasure!
Speaking of secondhand, I put together a handy dandy Secondhand Style Guide for you with a whole slew of information about shopping secondhand, both online and in stores. I shared my experiences working with several of the online resale and consignment outlets to give you an idea of what to expect from each and included some tips on how to determine which suits your style best. Stop on over and let me know what you think!
This here little dress hails from one of the outlets I featured in my guide. I scored it from a site called 15each.co, which obtains items both secondhand and new with tags from department stores’ prior seasons collections. Everything on the site sells for $15. You can read more about it in the guide, which includes a video with all the details.
I hope you love it. More importantly, I hope you find it helpful! If you do love it, be sure to share with your “real-life” friends and your social media friends. (That’s probably obvious, right?)
Dress – 15each.co; Jacket – Collection Fiftynine (via Goodwill);
Fleece Tights – Target; Boots – Aerosoles; Bag – Gift
Bracelets – Chicago art fair, Tiffany’s, & c/o 100 Good Deeds Bracelet
It’s not quite Valentine’s Day, even though retailers started planning for the holiday about one minute after Santa headed back up the chimney. I couldn’t, however, pass up Lisa’s red and pink combination that perfects the intersection of professional and feminine. Stop on over to see what else Lisa, from Lisa a la Mode, has to share on her beauty and style blog! I’ve already pinned Lisa’s look to my Pinterest page! (Coincidentally, she’s also the newest contributor to the Sophisticated Style Pinterest Group Board).
