I mentioned yesterday in light of my new status as a mother of two little boys, I would share a few ideas I had (and of course, what I would wear) for spending this coming Sunday celebrating my mom and being a mom. As an alternative to yesterday’s traditional Mother’s Day brunch, consider sharing a glass of wine with your mom. Here in Chicago, with manic spring weather being as unpredictable as my teenage girl emotional outbursts, I selected two ways to share a glass of wine that wouldn’t allow the weather to be a deciding factor in the success of our day. (Even better, I can wear the same casual yet chic attire for both activities).
If the weather cooperates and we have a bit of time on our hands, I’d consider taking a drive to southwestern Michigan (about 1.5 – 2 hours from downtown Chicago) for a journey through one of Michigan’s wine countries. I have never visited, and know it’s not Sonoma or Napa Valley, but I expect we would find many great tasting options. Or if we prefer to stay local, we could also visit Lynfred Winery in the suburbs of Chicago.
Presuming the “lovely” spring weather continues to sprinkle us with cold April Showers, I have been curious about trying my not-so-artistic hand at a BYOB painting class. Here in Chicago, we have several, but I chose Arts n Spirits in one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city.
