To battle the unbelievably cold weather of late, I wore this heavily layered look “to work” on Tuesday. With wind chills reaching about negative thirty degrees or so, I passed up the walk to work and pounded away in Excel from the comfort of my home office. So technically, I wore this to work, but I definitely did not wear leggings to the office!
I layered up to beat the chill Mother Nature has been dragging down to Chicago far too often these days with two sweaters, two pairs of socks, and even two neck accessories (the necklace and my scarf) which, let’s be honest, only the scarf provided any comfort from the cold. But it’s a mighty cozy scarf, for sure. I still, none-the-less, did not beat the cold. When I did step outside briefly to drive The Little Guy to daycare and The Man to his office, the cold still kicked my butt.
On a style note, I have been down this road before but will return again to how much I love the added depth and interest that layering can provide for an outfit. If you scroll down, you can see this look with just the purple sweater and boots. But adding the over-sized cardigan and boot socks makes the outfit much more exciting. And one can never go wrong with a simple accessory or two. Either the necklace or the scarf would have sufficed, I suppose.
Hope you’re all staying as warm as I did in this “layering on steroids” look. And for those of you in warmer climates staying warm in a light jacket or shorts, I’m so jealous!
