We had one final celebration during the jam-packed family weekend – a small baby shower for one of my sisters (not the one graduating from high school, thank goodness – she’s not ready for babies yet!). Can you guess the gender of the baby? Yep – a little girl. I tried to sneak in a bit of a pink theme despite that it’s my sister’s not-so-favorite color. In fact, her and her husband are both great athletes and she was a major tomboy growing up. She loved the Ninja Turtles and had a serious micro-machines collection. Do you remember those things? I suspect her little daughter might follow in her footsteps and thought about throwing a blue-themed shower in honor of the likely tomboy my future niece will become. But I decided not to buck tradition; and who knows, maybe she’ll be the girliest girl we know. If you know my sister and brother-in-law, that would be hilarious!
A few sidenotes: I snagged the pink wafer cookie dipped in chocolate idea from Pinterest and the crackers with goat cheese and strawberry preserves taste much better than one might think – I promise!
