Due to the recent and seemingly endless bought we’ve been fighting in Chicago (and many parts of the country) with frigid weather, our company has offered us some casual days in an effort to stay warm in the crazy cold. I suppose wearing jeans provides a little emotional consolation too for the cold weather that seems to put people in not the best moods especially while traversing the freezing cold commute. Just in the last few weeks, M mentioned seeing some pretty “corporate” looking people nearly get in fights while walking to and from the office as they storm down the sidewalks on a mission to arrive at their heated destinations. Less than tolerant of others bumping or nudging them while we all have little to no peripheral vision when bundled up and made unrecognizable by our winter gear, the run-ins are inevitable but the quick escalation to a matter beyond a simple passing apology certainly stems from the cold.
In any case, I have not instigated or been on the recipient end of any fights during my commute on foot, and I got to throw on some jeans to wear to the office recently. You would not be able to see much more than my eyes were I wearing my parka, boots, two scarves, hat, hood, and mittens (gloves won’t even cut it at this point), so I spared you those for a few moments while I stepped outside to snap some photos. But you’ll notice that after this one day of braving the weather, I conceeded and the majority of my photos of late have been indoors. I don’t love the light but it’s just too friggin’ cold to go out for even two minutes to snap some photos. So until July (my pessimistic prediction of when the weather will warm up around here), I might just have to make do with the natural light peering in through our balcony windows.
Hope you’re staying warm!
