I don’t often wear pants to the office, which has been a change in the last few years. I used to wear pants all the time, but fashion and function both have led me down the skirt and dress road. In addition to thinking they are a bit more flattering on me, skirts and dresses have been much friendlier to me during my commute no matter the time of year. In summer, they keep me cooler under the beating sun. They also don’t drag on the ground while most of my pants are too long to wear with flats. (I vehemently refuse to walk a mile and a half each way in heels!) And in inclement weather, I find it much easier to throw on my rain boots or bulky winter boots over tights instead of fighting to shove my pants inside the boots.
Today, however, I decided to buck the trend and tried some pants. You can see the length poses a problem in flat shoes (similar to these pants), so I rolled them twice and walked to work ready for a flood. At least I sat in my cubicle warm and cozy all day. I also really liked trying the monochromatic look; I tried it once a while back in gray and I like the subtly of the combination. It’s no secret I often opt for a good pop of color (bright pink please!), but scaling back on occasion and sticking with a good o’l neutral look isn’t so bad.
