The coral blazer is back! I paired it with a simple black dress not long ago when I highlighted the Made in the USA brand, Oak73, who makes the blazer.
Today, I opted for a contrasting color combination to make both the dress and the blazer really pop.
For a very conservative office environment, this might be a bit loud. But in most office settings, the conservative silhouettes of both the dress and the blazer will tone down the colors enough to make it ‘work-worthy.’
The colors work together for two reasons. First, they sit opposite each other on the color wheel, which makes them contrast each other nicely. Second, they have similar tones and saturation. Both are very bright and rich colors. Being of the same tone and saturation help them to pair well. I reference this article often but it’s so well done and helpful. So check out this Intro to Colour Theory from Into Mind. She provides great detail and illustrations that really highlight the color wheel and its magic.
Now skip to your closet and find a great and unexpected color combination for your next office outfit. When you wear it, be sure to share on social media and tag me (@fashemployed on Instagram is the best place to find me) so I can check it out!
