So with the two outfits below, this wraps up my ridiculous week of “copying” Taylor’s outfits from her catchy new music video that’s been playing on repeat in our house for over a week. I started this nonsense on Monday, so stop on over for the back story if you missed that post.
And to really head to the opposite end of the spectrum, the skimpy little dress I wore in the second outfit proves a far cry from a literal interpretation of the last outfit in the video, her all gold head-to-toe jumpsuit with big golden glasses rockin’ to techno. Unfortunately for this little experiment, but fortunately for my style sanity, I don’t own any full on gold get ups (shocking, I know). I’m pretty sure my bosses would give me the stink eye (and maybe worse) if I showed up to work in anything remotely resembling that crazy attire.
I recognize this is a tad bit (or a lot bit) short. I would NEVER, I repeat NEVER, wear it to work. While this blog consists primarily of work outfits, I do actually wear clothes outside of work (surely not a newsflash…I hope). And once in a LONG while, I slip into something a little more scandalous. So in a stretch to do my best to use this final gold outfit as inspiration, I grabbed from my closet the one and only piece that has any shiny gold in it whatsoever and played around with it to see what I liked. And thus was born the idea to wear the dress, well, basically by itself. (Hmmm, it appears my creative genius has taken a vacation. I guess we all need some down time.)
So now that your eyes are crossed looking at all my myriad adaptations from Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”, what music video sparks your style wheels spinning? Let’s here it. If I love the song as much as you, maybe we can take another crack at this pop culture inspiration again.
