So it’s just another day at the office, and I’m trying out for the pattern mixing team. My skills aren’t too seasoned so I know the junior varsity team will be my home, should I do well in tryouts. That’s a good place for me.
For my first audition, if you will, I combined polka dots, jacquard (if that counts as a pattern) and hounds tooth. I kept my color palette pretty simple to avoid too much chaos, and I’m hoping the coaches think my first tryout went well. I’ll round up a few more of my pattern-mixing auditions and let you decide for yourself if I might make a good addition to the team.
I finished off my outfit with this necklace I made recently. I never questioned its pink color until it seemed to blend in with this certainly purple shirt all too well. Now I’m confused. Aren’t the beads pink when worn with my Hamburglar dress?! If they are sometimes pink and then purple when up next to purple, they must have some chameleon-like qualities. Fine by me ~ just makes this pretty little thing even more remixable.
Just like most style bloggers (except those uber fashionistas who seem to wear an entirely new luxury outfit every day ~ that would / could never be me, I have neither the time nor the money), I strive to remix my items regularly. I wore the new necklace to a wedding recently (good enough as it’s new) and the skirt and shirt have both made several appearances on my little blog (the shirt to celebrate my birthday and The Little Guy’s birthday and the skirt to a client lunch and the office with leopard print shoes). But when I tried to find posts about my fun shoes, I found none. Now, I didn’t look too hard. I just scanned my Gallery. But do I really wear these guys that infrequently?! Is that my blog’s way of telling me I have too many clothes/shoes? I have only been posting for a few months, but I’ve been posting for months! In any case, “Hounds tooth shoes, welcome to my blog” and “Blogger friends, meet my hounds tooth shoes.” With introductions complete, we can go about our merry ways. “Don’t you worry shoes. I promise to bring you back for an encore soon.”
