Many moons ago, I bought this red Tory Burch dress from Nordstrom Rack. I loved the color and print, and it fit me perfectly. All was dandy until I wore it out one night and realized that the low cut neckline (that seemed just barely adequate in the dressing room) wasn’t going to cut it in real life. A few moves to the right or left, bending over to put on shoes, or leaning forward to snag a bite of food off of a table at a restaurant and my undergarments were on display. No thanks… especially in the office!
I tried several camisoles under the dress but none proved to fix the fashion faux pas. The dress hibernated in a dark corner in my closet until a figurative light bulb switched on and the latest bralette trend (that I promise I will never wear on its own) lit up my face and the dark corner of my closet in which this number rested. I walked to Nordstrom that afternoon after seeing the solution in their seasonal catalog that arrives at my apartment regularly, and I snatched up the little olive green accessory that has made all the difference in my comfort with this dress. Thank you bralettes for bringing this dress back to life.
Do you have any small fashion finds that have made a world of difference in your opinion or interpretation of a great piece in your closet? I’d love to see or hear about your revivals.
And as always in my summer work attire posts, here’s the jacket I added upon arriving at the office to stay warm and conservative.
