Ok, so it’s not exactly the lyrics from the old school Soul II Soul song, but we knew in our hearts that May was far too early to assume that the gross, cold, rainy weather had left town for the season. The day I wore this outfit, we woke up to rain and temperatures in the forties. All this crap just days after we sat in the beach in our swimsuits under cloudless skies and warm summer sun. But it’s Chicago, characterized by fickle, and often terrible, weather. Oh well – on to brighter things. The true summer, as brief as it may end up being and despite this rain’s last ditch efforts to hang around, has to be on it’s way soon.
On a warmer day, I wore a similar outfit (here) sans tights. I swapped out the striped skirt for this maroon number (Target special) and added the new scarf I picked up at the top of Mount Pilatus last week during our trip to Switzerland. I wanted something small to bring back as a momento and had difficulty finding something in my price range because everything in the country is crazy expensive. This scarf cost me only 14 Swiss Francs, so I couldn’t complain about that.
On an unrelated note, I bought this skirt with my younger sister and she bought the same one. We live in different parts of the country, so we will certainly never be “twins” together. But she is the only one of my four sisters thus far who has a corporate “business casual” job. While I enjoy shopping with my sisters, I never had a sister with whom I could shop or share work clothes. She graduates from college in a year so she’s just starting to build her work wardrobe for her summer internships. Good stuff!!
