So remember a few months ago when I FINALLY found that white blazer I’d been yearning for for months. Apparently, when it rains it pours. ‘Cuz I just landed myself another white blazer, though this time of the long and linen variety. Seriously, just about the only thing these two blazers have in common is the color.
Through magic forces of the universe (ok, maybe not, but something like that), I stumbled on this white blazer and a bazillion (yes – a bazillion) ideas raced through my head about how to style it for work and for the weekend (when I actually have a few minutes to go out on a hot date with the hubs).
You all know that chic but totally cool long white blazer that high end fashionistas wear to appear effortlessly stylish? Besides having me fooled for quite some time when I was younger that being that put together actually could be effortless, they filled my head with ideas of what to do with this snazzy blazer. Now that blazer is in my closet waiting to be remixed like a maniac. Only mine is the sweetest of them all, from an up and coming crew that calls themselves Marine Layer (that’s a store, not a band. But I bet they’d want to be a band, because who doesn’t want to be in a band?). Back to blazers.
So I found this white blazer that seemed totally cool and awesome. And I did what anyone would do (or at least what my two year old son does every time he sees something he likes); I asked for it. And guess what?! They said yes! And guess what else – they just opened a new store in my neck of the woods as they venture away from the West Coast into uncharted territories (or maybe just other states, but scary nonetheless). So here I am welcoming them with open arms, wearing something familiar to make them feel at home in their new digs. And if you’re in Chicago or will be visiting soon, stop by to say hello, wish them luck, snag yourself a new shirt, and buy them a beer. They did offer to buy all of us a drink to celebrate their opening last week, so it’s really only fair.
And if you’re interested in owning the softest shirt on the planet (I haven’t tried them all, so I have no scientific proof of this), check out their t-shirts, wovens, and more. They even have a bunch of goodies for the boys. (Don’t fret faraway friends, they offer free shipping so you can always order online if you don’t live near one of their stores!)
Fun Fact: All this gear came from the good ol’ USA. Apple pie, Thanksgiving turkey, chocolate chip cookies, and your favorite t-shirt… Homemade is always the best!
