I generally wear my scarves tied around my neck in one of a few simple ways (like the day I layered up purple and gray or added a punch of color with some simple accessories). Thanks to some inspiration from Pinterest, I gave this very simple look a try as an ode to this lovely pin (which you can see I nearly copied exactly). I think that’s at least one of the reasons why we all love Pinterest so much, right? I love seeing how others creatively use items I have in my closet and then trying to see if I can recreate, or sometimes just use as loose inspiration, in a way that works for me.
As the weather in town here has finally started to think about getting warmer, I have started to ponder wearing something other than my winter boots and “sleeping bag” like parka. You got a peek at that a couple of months ago when outdoor conditions around Chicago had reached rock bottom (as in, the coldest part of the coldest winter in the history of the city, as I was told). I’d like to believe I’m stronger for surviving it, but really I think it just made me temporarily grumpier. I can’t win ’em all.
But back to more stylish things, I swapped out the scarf and Hunter boots for some leopard print flats upon arrival at the office on a rare casual Friday (rare being that I showed up in the office, not that it’s casual – under my part-time arrangement, Fridays are one of my days off when we’re not getting destroyed by enormous volumes of work). I got to wear something comfortable but still used the blazer to keep the look refined enough for the office. At least I won this battle.
And today’s look provides another example of my “casual Friday uniform” that includes a casual top and a three-quarter sleeve blazer with jeans, which I discussed more in my first edition of Oh-So Sophisticated Style Spotlight a few weeks back. Nothing wrong with sticking with what works!
